Responsive web design - RWD for short - for the perfect tailored appearance

Responsive web design is not just a buzzword or a service, it is an underlying philosophy to display content in the best possible way regardless of the output device. The focus is not on the individual device and its technical specifications, but on the accessibility and operation of websites and apps. Just a few years ago, web designers and IT service providers could concentrate mainly on desktop output when creating web portals. Nowadays, there is an unmanageable number of devices that offer the possibility of displaying content from the web. From smart TVs over 65" in size to smart watches with a screen diagonal of just 2". In the past, fixed pixel widths were used, but nowadays websites are designed and developed to be "fluid" or "adaptive".

Customized - from the first scribble to the finished web portal

SINEOS works with you to develop responsive websites. In the first steps, we explain the difference between the classic workflow (waterfall principle) and the iterative process, with which you can reach your goal faster and more cost-efficiently. A few years ago, many screens were produced in a fixed pixel width for a relaunch. Today, this is no longer justifiable for economic reasons, as these templates would have to be created for a wide variety of resolutions. For this reason, a different approach was chosen to meet the new challenges.

  • Project Kickoff
  • Content strategy
  • Moodboard and style tiles, wireframes and then screen design of relevant pages for large screens (desktop/laptop), for medium (tablet) and small (smartphone). These are created in Photoshop, Muse or Sketch, for example.
  • Start with the implementation of HTML5 prototypes and templates, usually based on Bootstrap, which are filled with real content. These are gradually refined and adapted and expanded as required. The final development of the appearance and behavior takes place in the browser, as it can be tested directly live. In the case of applications in particular, it may be necessary to play out your own templates for smartphones so that they can be used properly.
  • Final testing of the developed HTML templates on various devices.

In this process, constant communication between all project participants is essential. SINEOS uses project management tools to facilitate collaboration and ensure clarity.

Case Studies

Budget-friendly - RWD off the shelf

Developing screens and templates in the style of your own corporate design requires a certain budget commitment despite optimized processes. Not every company can afford this to this extent. That's why SINEOS relies on already developed responsive web design templates. These are adapted to the company's CD and further developed according to requirements. Advantage: you achieve a remarkable result within a short time. Disadvantage: the individuality falls somewhat by the wayside, and larger CSS and Javascript file sizes are created.
